Estimation of the Return Periods in Hydrology

A filtered Poisson process is proposed as a model for river flows. With the help of real-life data, parameters are estimated. Mathematical formulae derived in order to estimate various return periods river. An application two rivers shows that point estimates very close corresponding values computed by hydrologists, based on historical data. Moreover, modifying model, we can see potential effects climate change periods.
